Procedure
  1.   Cork the flask, label it with your name and leave it under the hood.
  2. Collect the Product by cooling the reaction mixture in ice and vacuum filter to isolate the product.
  3.  Rinse the product with ice cold water and allow it to dry until the next lab period.
  4. Combine your product with your classmates to achieve a mass of about 12 grams.
5.  Weigh the total mass of the combined products
6.  Dissolve the total quantity to the mark in distilled
7.  Transfer your solution to a polarimeter and measure the observed rotation of the product in the polarimeter.
8.  Convert your observed rotation to specific rotation
9.  Calculate the optical purity of your product.
